Week #2

Happy Sunday Readers!

Week #2 was great.. I am SO happy to be back. I’ve realized I am a depressed non-runner! I’m not myself. I am 100% me when I am running – positive, inspired, motivated, bubbly.. all the good things. Have I said how happy I am to be back?

Monday I ran/walked 3 miles on the treadmill. I thought it went fine, I had some tightness, but nothing to write home about. Right now, I’m running 3 minutes, walking 1 minute.

Tuesday & Wednesday I go to night class, so by default those are my “rest” days. This week, me & a few of my running friends decided to form a group for the Weight Race, which is put on by the company we work for & Thursday was my first official weigh in. It runs for 12 weeks, & whichever team loses the biggest percentage of their goal weight wins! I can’t wait to kick this race’s ass with my friends. I still have about 10-15 lbs I would like to lose. I would like to lose 10 by the time my cruise rolls around the first week of April. The other 5 can come off whenever πŸ™‚ That day, I did another run/walk on the treadmill & had NO PAIN. I was ecstatic. I felt so good. I decided that day I would continue to run/walk until I felt 100% better, as run/walking seems to be going very well for me.

Friday I had to work until 8pm.. This is technically a rest day for me, but I decided I will use this day as weight/strength training at the gym. I would really like to start toning up. I’d love to have a tighter stomach & some nicely toned arms πŸ™‚

Yesterday was the long run.. I ran/walked 4 miles. The temperature starting out was about 25 degrees, but it got warmer once we got going. It was so nice being with the group again. Shoutout to my 12min pace group – even though I was run/walking, you girls kept telling me you wouldn’t leave me behind! It meant so much to me. I can’t wait to continue to run with you every Saturday.

Then, I went to Aldi for the first time! I saw that they have very affordable groceries there, & I wanted to check it out! I really like to try to eat healthy. Below is my receipt.. I couldn’t believe some of the prices!! I would recommend Aldi’s to anyone πŸ™‚

Today is my Sunday to work, but I plan on running downtown afterwards, it is beautiful out & I don’t want to miss it!

Also, what I realized last night after an alcohol infused conversation with friends, that I really do need to start eating “smarter” if I want to be successful during this half marathon training. I can’t expect to get away with eating 1200 calories a day & still have the energy to get through my long runs. Yes, I do want to lose weight, but I also want to be strong. This will be a struggle for me.. But I’m trying to learn. Baby steps!
