This December Run Challenge is over half-way over! How is everyone doing?
On Tuesday, I met up with my usual group of favorite running friends for Elite Runners & Walkers annual Holiday Lights Run! The run kicked off from Station Square. I don’t have any festive clothing (truly a surprise with how much I love the holidays) so I didn’t get to dress up but some people truly went all out! I loved seeing everyone’s outfits. I believe Matt said they had over 75 people show up! Check out this awesome crowd…
It was so much fun. A little over a 4 mile course was mapped out & we ran over Smithfield Bridge..
down to the Point where our first “photo op” was in front of the lit up tree! It was great having everyone stop & take selfies, group pictures, etc. You really felt like you were with the whole group regardless of pace.
After our first photo op, we ran some more around the Point & ran to the Highmark Unity Tree. Second photo op!
After this photo op, we were running with both coaches, Matt & Justin for a little while. Us 3 girls had happy feet trying to keep up with them so these miles were pretty fast for us! 3rd photo op was at the US Steel Tower in front of the Nativity scene. I love this particular holiday decoration, & it was so nice to stop & see it.
For the last photo op, we ran to Market Square where everything is really decked out! I hadn’t been there at all yet this season, so I was glad I finally got to go! I have been dying to go ice skating at PPG, but the temps have been too warm to do so 😦 We had a lot of fun here.
Once we got back to Station Square, we got pictures in front of the really pretty tree in front of the Grand Concourse restaurant. This tree is my favorite & I have a picture in front of it from last year too!
After the run we all got beers at Buckheads & Ally the Brooks rep bought us all pizza. It was nice catching up with ladies I hadn’t seen in a while & it was exciting talking about spring training starting.
My GPS didn’t sync until 1.5 miles into our run (so does it even count?) 😉
Speaking of spring training, the kick-off was Saturday! I wasn’t able to attend as I am in Delaware visiting my mom for Christmas, & with all of the running around, I wasn’t able to get a run in of my own :(. Since training has started, I will be posting weekly about my runs & I hope you all read & follow along & share some of your stories with me if you’re training for a Spring Half/Full as well!
December Run Challenge Week 4 goal: 4 miles. (these holidays & traveling are tough) 😦
