Welcome 2016! I hope this year for you (& me) will be full of amazing things! Goals reached, positive changes made, & happiness found.
I have not forgotten about this blog, I promise! With the holidays & traveling, I have had zero time to do much of anything! As I said before, week 1 of training (for me) started Monday, 12/28. Well, I traveled to my Dad’s outside of DC for Christmas weekend, & got in a quick 2 miles there. I absolutely despise running there, but I hadn’t run in almost a week & a half by that time, so I knew I had to get out & do something.
Please ignore my makeup-less face & bad skin 😦 Have these temperature changes done a number on anyone else’s skin like mine?! UGH.
On Tuesday, I got an e-mail at work saying I won a free entry to any event on Pittsburgh Marathon weekend! SCORE!!! I was so happy about this. Considering I’m already signed up for the half, I used it for the 5k.. which if you don’t know what that means, I’ll tell you. On Saturday, April 30, I’ll run the 5k & get a medal. On Sunday, May 1, I’ll run the half, & get another medal. Because I am registered (& will run, all hopes & prayers of course) both races, I am automatically entered into the Steel Challenge. Upon completion of both races, I will get a THIRD medal for becoming a Runner of Steel. I am so excited that this will be a TRIPLE medal weekend!! 😀
Tuesday night was meant for a 20 minute tempo run. Well.. considering at that point I had run once in 2 weeks, I decided to just get in an easy 3 mile run.. no 10:30 pace here. NO thank you. The headwind was strong & it was cold! I ran alone, but that didn’t bother me.. I was just happy to get the mileage in after being lazy about it for so long.
How was everyone’s NYE? I swear the more I’m pushing 30, the longer it takes to recover. I had wanted to run on Friday ( ha. haha. hahahahaha.) Yeah, that day was spent on couches & luckily I was able to be taken care of – pretty sure a cure for a hangover is pizza & getting your back rubbed. Simultaneously. Anyways – So, Friday running was a bust.
Saturday was Elite’s group long run – but my calves hurt SO bad that I could barely walk (still from NYE..) so, I opted out. I miss that group, can’t wait to get my stuff together & get back out there with them.
I moved my 4 mile long run today, & it went well. Real feel of 24, but I bundled & was quite warm by the end! Week 1 down — 16 or so weeks to go!
Week 1: 7.03 miles
Is anyone else training for a race? Which race & distance are you doing? Please share!
