Weekend Recap – playing catch up

Happy Monday! I hope everyone starts their week off on a positive note – whether it be with a good workout, your favorite coffee, or just getting yourself out from under your warm covers to conquer the day!

So.. it’s December. I always love the holidays. The lights, the Christmas movies (I watched my first one of the season on Saturday… “Love Actually”. Ugh, so good). I’m going into this month not feeling my best, but I’m really hoping that every so often I can look around at all of the beauty that the holidays bring & be really grateful for everything I have.

Today I’m linking up with HoHo Runs for their Weekly Wrap. Nothing too exciting over the weekend! I felt like I played a lot of catch up which is exactly what I needed.

Friday evening after work, my coworker Tara & I hit up a new restaurant/bar for dinner, Bakersfield. I won’t say happy hour because, womp womp, they didn’t have a happy hour. But, that’s okay! Bakersfield is located on Penn Ave downtown next to Sienna Mercato. It’s such a cool place & their food is delicious! We started with chips & guac (duh) & margaritas. Both great! After our margs, we ordered beers.. I had Troegs Amber Ale which was really good. We then ordered tacos – she had pork belly & I got marinated steak with this cabbage slaw on top – delicious!! Then we ordered PBR in a boot glass & beef & cheddar chorizo. We couldn’t help ourselves! We were celebrating Tara’s promotion so we indulged a little. We also dressed almost exactly the same.. but hey, we looked great. #twinning.

Once we finished at Bakersfield, we headed next door to IL Tetto (rooftop bar of Sienna Mercado) & we had another drink. I had such a great time & it was a much needed girls night!

Saturday my alarm went off at 5am. Of course, I woke up with a headache. Awesome. I had to be down at Heinz Field by 5:30am to help set up for the Jingle Bell 5k downtown. There was a ton to do! Andrew & I drove the course & set up arrows & even got yelled at a few times along the way since we were driving on the trail 😛 I’m just going to blame it on people not getting enough sleep & they were cranky! I got a shot of the city down by the river, it was around 6:30-6:45am.

I love this city. After course clean up around 11:30, I had to dip out because my morning headache formed into a migraine & I was hurting pretty bad. I came home & slept until 3:30pm.

The rest of the weekend was just catching up on some Netflix shows, relaxing, & grocery shopping. And working on catching up on my Math homework. The end of the semester is so close, I can taste it! I want to finish it out on a good note & the only way to do that is to stay focused on the end goal.

Before I end this, I want to thank those who reached out to me about what I wrote in my Friday Five post last week. Just knowing that I have friends there for me helps tremendously. So – thank you. I am so grateful for you!

I hope ya’ll have a great week! Wednesday will be my “Currently” post for December & Friday it’ll be another Friday Five!

What do you have planned for the week? What was your favorite part of the weekend?

I’ve got a massage scheduled for tomorrow night (which I debated cancelling to go to the lights run, but decided not to) & then I am LASER FOCUSED on my goals for the 5K on Sunday. I WILL crush it (and so will you) and then CHEESE.

I apologize if you’ve linked up with us for the first time last week and I didn’t see it. I’ve been a traveling queen the last two weeks! Anyway, so glad to have you and I hope you’ll be a regular!
I don’t get many migraines but when I get a doozie, sleep in a quiet room is the only thing that works! I’m still trying to absorb all that happened over the weekend while I was away enjoying a race with 7 other blogger friends! It was EPIC to say the least!
    Thanks for linking up Ciara!

Migraines stink. I developed my last on Thanksgiving after a 16 mile run. I blame it on dehydration. That is a beautiful picture of Pittsburgh. Kudos to you for volunteering at the Jingle Bell 5k. I don’t think some people realize the hard work involved to pull off a successful race. Love Actually is still on my DVR from last year. I plan to watch it this weekend! Thanks for linking, Ciara.
