Friday Five 12.9.16

friday five blog

Friiiiiday! Aren’t we all just working for the weekend? I hope everyone had a great week & hope you have an even better weekend. What do ya’ll have planned? Only 2 more weeks until Christmas! (if you celebrate, that is!)

1. Today is my department’s holiday party. I didn’t go last year & got a lot of crap for it, so I figured I’d make an appearance this year. Just going for the free food. Sorry, not sorry.

2. Sunday is Trot for Tots 5k! This is my typical 5k PR race. I’ve PR’d each year I’ve ran it. I all of a sudden got a white, swollen, splotchy throat yesterday – so running it is TBD. Regardless, I’m going because those are my people.

3. I stumbled upon this & needed to read it.

4. If you live in Pittsburgh, this couldn’t be more true:

Shout-out to Scott Harbaugh – you keep all of us entertained!

5. I want to hear about your holiday traditions! Please leave them in the comments. I’m so interested in hearing what people do every year without fail. My Mom moved to Delaware a while back & ever since then, I spend Christmas with her. This year we’re having our normal spa day, seeing a movie, shopping & baking cookies. I can’t wait to actually wake up on Christmas morning with my family. I can’t remember the last time I actually got to do that.

2 years ago. We are a Steelers family after all.

I saw that weather tweet and nearly fell out of my chair! My only holiday tradition is that I get drunk on Christmas Eve to force people to leave my house. I’m quite classy lol. Happy Friday!

My favorite tradition is that Christmas Eve we all go out for Chinese food, drive around and look at our favorite neighborhoods with the tackiest Christmas decorations & then drive home to get dressed for “midnight” church. Which really starts at 11PM, ’cause sleep.

We had a few rough years when our favorite Chinese place was under new sucky ownership, and we had to find a new one, but we finally did. So, now it’s full swing ahead with egg rolls & General Tso’s chicken. Mmm.

I go for the food at most places 😉
I dont know if I have a tradition. I try to set something up, but here I am married 21 years & I dont think we have anything we set to do every Christmas. Though last year, we went to the movie on Christmas morning after our family totally changed the schedule & we loved it – going again this Christmas – maybe that’s our new tradition 😉
A 5k on a Sunday? You rarely hear of those – have a great race!

We don’t really have many holiday traditions in my family. We’re always doing different things, sometimes traveling and sometimes visiting family. I’m still not sure what we’re doing this year! Hope you have a great weekend and good luck in your race!

Love #3 – I needed it as a good reminder that I’m living my life by my clock.

My favorite Christmas tradition is cutting down my tree with my dad and godfather. Been doing it for 31 years! I also love to bake cookies from my grandmas recipes.
