2016 Year in Review

This was a really fun post to do. It allowed me to look back at all of the beautiful things that have happened to me over the last year. It reminded me how far I’ve come since January 1st & how much I will continue to grow as the years go on. I have amazing memories to look back on & I can’t wait to make new ones in 2017.

In January, I started my first week of training for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon. It would be my first time running this race & my first time running for the ALS Association.

In February I ran my first race of the year, Spring Thaw, & I got a PR in the 10 mile distance. Little did I know how frequently I’d be using the term “PR” in 2016…

In March, I let my anxiety over take me a little & I didn’t get to run as much as I wanted to.. but I did always remember the importance of self love.

In April, I wrote this post about why I was running for ALS. The cause is so special to me & close to my heart & it meant everything to be a part of this team.

In May, I ran the Pittsburgh Half Marathon. It was the most amazing experience. A sign I’ll always remember I saw along the course said, “Purpose with every step”. And I knew that’s what I had to do. It wasn’t about the time in which I finished, it was about the race as a whole. What I did to get there, what it took to get there, and why I was out there. I know Mr. French was there with me. He always is.

In June, I ran my first OCR! Someday I would like to do a more challenging one, but this was perfect for my first time. I completedΒ almost all of the obstacles.

In July, I started training for my 3rd half marathon, Buffalo Creek. And I even gave myself a time goal. I wanted to finish in 2 hours & 30 minutes.

In August, it was really hot. That’s all I remember.

In September, I became a LEGEND Compression Wear ambassador &Β I PR’d in the 5k. If you’re keeping count, that’s PR #2 of the year. Then, I PR’d in the 10k. PR #3 of 2016.

In October, I PR’d in the Buffalo Creek Half Marathon. PR #4. 2016 was hands down the best running year I’ve had so far.

In November, I went to my 10 year high school reunion & had a blast. It made me nostalgic for my old life – but made me appreciate my new life that much more.

And so here we are.. December. Closing out the final month of 2016. This year was a growing year. I got into big girl school (California Univ of PA) after finally finding the perfect major for me, & I learned a lot of new things about myself. My hope for 2017 is that all of my friends & family stay healthy & that I stay healthy as well. I hope 2017 brings even more love & self awareness. I can’t wait to see what’s in store πŸ™‚

2016 was pretty meh for me running wise, but pretty awesome personally // otherwise. I already know 2017 is going to be great, but I’m hoping my running catches up & I too can have a year of PR’s!

I loved your August recap – because that’s pretty much all I remember too, hot, hot, hot. Excited for more hanging out in 2017! And RAGNAR! Run all the miles, have all the fun! And I really want to convince you to do BOTH parts of the Two Face 10K next year with me!

A great year in the books.
I’m hoping to have more running memories in 2017 – now let’s tell my knees that πŸ˜‰
I love running for a cause that is dear the heart. Makes it so much more meaningful
