Rock ‘n Roll Raleigh Half Training – Week 7

Happy Monday everyone! Today is not a day off for me, but I know it is for a lot of you. I hope you enjoy your day off if you do! I’m here for another recap of my last week, Week 7 of training. I am very close to being done with this training, only about 6 weeks to go until race day.

We have had some absolutely beautiful spring weather & I’m really excited about it. I’m hoping it stays this way for Saturday’s Spring Thaw 10 mile race!

Sunday – I ran just about 6 miles with Jennifer & Joanna. I’ve been spending a couple Sundays with them during training & I’m really enjoying it! I can’t say I get these miles in if it wasn’t for them. It was SO warm this day. I could have worn a tank top & shorts. We were absolutely sweating by the end. I struggled a lot towards the end, it ended up being pretty humid.

Monday – I hit up EFX at FASTER for the first time in 2 weeks! 2 weeks is way too long without it. I love feeling myself getting stronger, so I really try not to skip it!

Tuesday + Wednesday – Class

Thursday – I ended up having a super stressful day. Anxiety, frustration, just an overall not great day. I came home & did some yoga & tried to meditate on it & hoped I’d feel better by the next day.

Friday – My mom came in a week early to celebrate my birthday with me. We had dinner at Primantis & she let me open up a gift. It was a really pretty sign to hang on my wall. And I loved the bow so much I had to take a picture of it!

Saturday – In the morning I got up & went out with my usual Pro Bike + Run group. We got in just about 6 miles. I wanted to do 8, but I forgot to bring myself fuel (because I was staying at my mom’s hotel) & so I just decided to cut it short. Again, super warm & nice in the sun!

My Mom & I did a lot of shopping & in the evening we headed to the Walnut Grill in Robinson for dinner. I had never been to this location, but had been to one around here & I knew the food was good. It was also National Wine Day, so I had to get a glass! I had a glass of Narcisi Peach (local winery here) & it was delicious! For dinner I had parmesan crusted chicken with gnocchi. YUM! For dessert, I had to get cheesecake because let’s be real… this is why I run ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a really nice time with my Mom & I feel I had a decent fitness week. Most of my running is done over Saturdays + Sundays because that is what works best with my current schedule, but I end up getting in some quality miles over the weekends.

How is your training going? What race are you training for?

I’ve been to the Walnut Grill up in Wexford and also got the Narcisi Peach wine ๐Ÿ™‚ That restaurant is really good so I’ll have to go back some time. I hope that the yoga and meditation helped out your anxiety..I know that it helps me a lot, especially if I do a little every day.

I’ve never been to Walnut Grill, but it definitely seems like a popular place, and I LOVE Narcisi wine. We should make a trip up there once the weather is nice. If you sit outside you can bring all your own food, which is nice, bring a blanket and just sit & enjoy the sunshine, definitely fun to do a mini potluck with a bunch of friends. Okay – this needs to be a thing.

Hoping nice weather sticks around for Spring Thaw this weekend!

Weekend runs are definitely my fun runs of the week that I look forward to! Keep your fingers crossed for the Spring Thaw–as of now, it’s supposed to rain. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
